Card #1 - the 'Coming Year Elemental Influence' is the main background elemental influence and will effect ALL the other cards.

Cards 2 through 5 each have 'Positional' elemental background influences which go like so:

The 7th card, the 'Overall Influence for the Coming Year' - and card #8, 'Overall Spiritual Influence for the Coming Year', have the background elemental influence of 'Neutral'. They are however effected by the main elemental influence of card #1. Also, cards #6 and #7 DO effect each other elementally.

Positional Background Elemental Influences [Cards #2 thru #5]
These four (4) cards effect each other elementally and are effected by card #1 - the Background Elemental Influence.

Neutral Background Elemental Influence [Card #6] - Up to you to use this card and if the main background element effects it if you do use it. Health issues can turn into a separate spread within this spread.

Neutral Background Elemental Influence [Cards #7]
Neutral Background Elemental Influence for the 'Major Arcana Spiritual Influence Card' for the coming year [card #8]
These two (2) cards (7 and 8) effect each other elementally and are effected by card #1 - the Main Background Elemental Influence.

The 6 of Swords (see images above) was dealt out for card #1 for the, 'Coming Year Elemental Influence'. So for the coming year the seeker will be effected most strongly by the element of AIR. Which means they will have the strong influences of intellect, thought, ideas, reason, and logic working for - or against them in the coming year. The element of AIR has the strongest conflict and stress factor of all the elements so care must be taken to keep that in mind and not let 'things get to you' and to try and keep things mellow. At the same time don't let things fester in your mind and to act - 'DON'T JUST THINK AND STEW - Do Something'.

Card #2 [F-BG] - The Sun [Fire] - Motivational Influences
Since Fire and Air (the background element) are friendly then that should mean a very energetic, active, and growing type year motivationally. It probably also means a year of enlightenment. But care must be taken not to BURN out with the [BG] element of Air feeding the Fire of The Sun. The Sun is at 'home' in this position as the positional background elemental influence is Fire - so burn out is a definite possibility if care isn't taken. But it's also a strong indication of a very, very active year - so try not to take on to many responsibilities and burdens. Don't over-extend yourself.

Card #3 [A-BG] - Queen of Wands [Fire] - Intellectual Influences
As usual I drew a Clarifying Card for the court card and drew the 10 of Wands. So the seeker will have a very active [Queen of Wands] mental/intellectual [Air background element] year but with the 10 of Wands they have to take care not to overdue and/or to commit themselves to things they can't get finished. Both the Queen and the 10 are friendly with the positional element of Air so both cards are 'intensified' in this position.

Card #4 [W-BG] - 4 of Wands [Fire] - Emotional Influences
The 4 of Wands is also friendly to the Air background element - but it's adverse/unfriendly to the individual positional element of Water. Emotionally this could indicate the seeker might have a rocky year coming their way. If the 4 of Wands can keep things stable - they should be okay but with the somewhat erratic Air background element and the emotional quality of Water they need to take care NOT to let their emotions get the best of them. The seeker will need to try an balance all these diverse elements in the coming year.

Card #5 [E-BG] - 3 of Pentacles [ID] - Material Influences
The 3 of Pents being an EARTH card is ill-dignified toward the AIR background element but gains strength for the positional elemental influence which is also Earth. So the seeker needs to take care of, and watch closely their money and finances - as well as their health. This is bared out in the last two cards (7 and 8).

Card/Pos #6 - [Neutral-BG] - Health Concerns for the Coming Year
At the time I originally did this spread this position did not exist - so no card was drawn. If you aren't comfortable with health stuff then skip this position.

Card #7 - [Neutral-BG] - Page of Swords [Weak] - Overall Influence for the Coming Year
I drew a Clarifying Card for the Page and came up with the 5 of Pentacles [ID]. The Page of Swords is friendly toward the Air background element but 'adverse' to the 5 of Pentacles which is Earth. Thankfully the 5 of Pents is really weak here as it is adverse both to the Page of Swords [Primary element of Air] and to the background element of Air. Still .. it's an indication that the seeker needs to think about their health and finances and that both need to be watched over closely.

Because this position is the 'Overall Influence for the Coming Year' the Page of Swords is advising you not to take risks with your [5 of Pents] money or your health. Try to remain grounded in the coming year and don't act foolishly or without thought. Also don't ignore getting medical check-ups on a periodic basis in the coming year.

Card #8 - [Neutral-BG] - Death - 'Overall Spiritual Influence for the Coming Year' [dealing until a Major comes up]
Only two cards were drawn. The second card drawn was a Major Arcana card and was Key 13: Death.

'Overall Spiritual Influence for the Coming Year' - Death
Death [WATER] is neutral toward both the background element of AIR and card #6 the Page of Swords [Air]. If your health suffers then your spirit and soul suffer along with it. The coming year may be a turning point for you spiritually and may even be a karmic type of year for you. Some things will come to an end while other things will change. But at the same time in the coming year you will experience a karmic completion and even mastery over some of your spiritual doubts and uncertainties.

Synopsis
Overall you will have an active and mentally vigorous and enlightening year - maybe too active and too mental. Use some of your highened mental activity/senses tending to your money and finances, and especially your health.
