The Dynamic PCR Spread [Part-1]

[PCR = Problem - Challenge - Resolution]

This is more of an exercise to help you learn the tarot cards, elemental dignities, and positional dignities, spread overviews, etc. than it is a spread. But it works well as a spread too! Or it should but I just created it (7/14/2004) and haven't had a chance to try it yet so we can learn together whether it's a worthy spread or not.

But ... you are guaranteed to get a little of everything a tarot deck has to offer in one reading using the PCR spread. Feel free to change what card comes up where. Something might make more sense to you than the way I have the 'set up cards' for each position.

Layout

.. P .... C .... R ..
. 1 ..... 4 ......7 ..
.2.3 .. 5.6 .. 8.9 .

Note #1: ONLY position #7 is allowed to have a court card come up in it. That way newbies only have to hassle with a single court card in the layout, but ... at the same time they will have to deal with this court card. Experienced folks can kick butt anyway they want to - except that there has to be a court card at position #7. I set position #7 up as a 'people/person' card - thus the court card and the position meaning, "Who Can Help the Seeker the Most?". You don't have to read it as a person but that was my intent. Given the positive connotations of the wording I also gave position #7 a Positive Positional Dignity [PosPD] - (see section on Positional Dignities).

1.) What is the Seekers Mental/Emotional State
    [Deal cards out until a Sword or Cup card comes up]

2.) What Past Influences Have Effected the Seeker?
      [Deal cards out until a major arcana card comes up]

3.) What is their Current Situation/Problem?
    [Deal cards out until a Wand or Pentacles card comes up]
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
4.) What Challenges/ Obstacles are Facing the Seeker?
     [Deal cards out until a Sword or Cup card comes up]
5.) What is the Worse Possible Course of Action for the Seeker to Take?
     [Deal cards out until a major arcana card comes up]
6.) What Forces [Internal or External] are Working Against the Seeker?
     [Deal cards out until a Wand or Pentacles card comes up]
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
7.) Who Can Help the Seeker the Most?
     [Keep dealing cards until a court card comes up]

8.) What is the Best Possible Course of Action for the Seeker to Take?
     [Anything BUT a court card]

9.) What Does the Future Hold for the Seeker?
    [Anything BUT a court card]

Note #2: You can of course read the cards under each of the top cards - assuming there are any - to help get a deeper insight into the top card and thus help clarify what the top card is trying to tell you.

Note #3: It's set up in sets of 3 to make it easier to do elemental dignities if you chose to - in fact it was written specifically for doing elemental dignities. One set of 3 cards does not interact with the other sets. Each set of three (3) are separate entities.

The spread is okay to do as is but in Part-2 you will find out, and learn a little about Positional Dignities.
